Our friend and lifelong inspiration ARTHUR C. CLARKE passed away on March 19th, 2008. Having grown up on his novels, tales and essays (not to mention those many afternoons spent eighth row back dead-center at Toronto's Glendale Cinerama once "2001: A Space Odyssey" opened), the opportunity to travel to Sri Lanka in October of 2000 to interview Sir Arthur for our Discovery Channel film "2001 and Beyond" was, for Shirley and me, the ultimate privilege and the journey of a lifetime.

At the end of several days of delightful on-camera chatter, Arthur said "Wait, there's one more thing I must add. Are you still rolling?" I wasn't, but quickly turned the camera back on.
