ASTRONOMY SITES WORTH WATCHING
Where we like to go on those rare occasions when we're allowed to leave the bunker:
Want to calculate your chances of seeing an Aurora tonight from wherever you're currently stuck on Earth? This satellite map is provided by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and is updated every three hours. Amaze your friends, predict the future, and make your next aurora party a complete success with a little high-tech pre-planning.
Astronomer Phil Plait examines astronomy gone awry in movies and TV at Bad Astronomy. If you saw the fox special Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon, Dr. Plaitt debunks the show here.
N.E.A.R.: Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous mission site. On Monday, 12 February 2001, the NEAR spacecraft touched down on asteroid Eros, after transmitting 69 close-up images of the surface during its final descent. To paraphrase the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still", "We're there! We've landed!"
