"THE HIGHEST STEP IN THE WORLD" has received highest honors at the 2007 White Sands Film Festival. It has been named overall festival winner, as well as the Judges' Choice for Best Documentary. Michael Lennick and Shirley Gulliford were given a warm welcome at what had to be the friendliest, least pretentious film festival they've ever attended, held annually in the small town that was both epicenter and birthplace of the American space program, Alamogordo, New Mexico.

In 2009, Michael and Shirley, along with producing partner Jerry S. Johnson, were once again honored by the White Sands Festival with a BEST DOCUMENTARY statue (and a lovely thing it is, too) for their latest feature documentary "THE LAND OF SPACE AND TIME".
